4 February 2010
From the
Principal
Dear Parents
A warm welcome back to the 2010 school year. We hope that you had
a great time with your family over the summer break. We have
noticed how refreshed and ready for school the children are. It
is a pleasure to have them all back with us, ready for another year of
hard work and high quality learning. It was lovely to speak to
many of you yesterday as you accompanied your children back to
school. Please keep in touch with your child’s teacher regularly
and our senior team is available to meet with you, also. We have
an “open door” policy and you are always welcome at our school.
Today’s newsletter is a brief welcome back greeting and we will include
all the important events and learning topics in next week’s edition.
A very important date for your diary however, is our “Meet the Teacher”
evening on Wednesday 3 March, 7.00 – 8.30pm. We hope that all
parents and caregivers will be able to come along.
Hats and drink bottles
Please make sure that your child has a school hat as it is compulsory
for hats to be worn during break times this term. As it is very
warm, we want the children to drink water regularly throughout
the day, so a drink bottle that they can fill here at school is ideal.
Break One Activities Programme
From next Monday the following optional activities will begin during
our first break:
school council, library club, Indian dance group, Cook Island
dance group, environment team, Mathletics, kapa haka group,
chess, orchestra, research club, technology project and visual arts.
During the second break our sports programme will take place which will
include small ball games for the junior children, playball for the
seniors, plus cricket and swimming.
The children can choose any of these activities and we are looking
forward to providing these extra opportunities so that the children can
learn new skills and pursue their talents and interests. Our
talented staff enjoy sharing their skills and talents with your
children.
There is a supervised 10 minute eating time at both breaks before any
activity begins.
PTA Annual General Meeting – Monday, 8 February 2010
We look forward to the PTA meeting next Monday at 7.00 pm in the oval
room. Please join us to “toast” the new year and to plan for
another great year. You will be most welcome. Our PTA is a
superb group.
All the best for the best of weekends. Enjoy the outdoors as the
very warm weather continues. Let’s make the most of the wonderful
long evenings.
Kind regards,
Marilyn Gwilliam
